Reading

Next week we are going to start looking at chapter two of ‘A Long Walk to Water’ – but first of all we are going to look at some new and unfamiliar vocabulary that we will come across. If we know what these words mean now, they will be easier to read and understand when we come across them!

First, put the words into alphabetical order.
Then, write out the definition for each word.

  • littered
  • darted
  • tense
  • rebel
  • hesitated
  • objected

Could you use each word in your own sentence?
Could you use more than one word in the same sentence?

Writing

We have planned our writing – now it’s time to write!

There will be a pre-recorded part of this lesson to show the children how they might turn their plan into a diary entry, using different sentence openers and descriptive vocabulary.

Remember to include all of our diary features:

  • chronological order (in order of how things happened)
  • first person (I, we, me, us)
  • Connecting openers (First… Next… After that… Some time later…)
  • Detailed description
  • Giving reasons why you feel a certain way

Maths

Today we are continuing to practise dividing a two digit number by a one digit number. The lesson can be found via this link, and it is the final video on this page.

Here is the follow up task. Remember to let a member of the team know if you need any further help!

I have been impressed with those of you that have tried the ‘True or False’ challenge every day as well; here is today’s!

Art
Some of your artwork from last week was amazing – I would love to share more of it on our Dojo page!

Today we are going to continue from last week’s session. Remember to look really carefully at the detail of each photo: the markings on the animal, the size and shape of their features, even the direction of their fur! Also, think about the shade: how hard do you need to press on the pencil? Are some parts lighter than others?

How many of the animals can you name?
