Reading
Today we will be reading the second chapter of ‘A Long Walk to Water’.
Before you start reading, look back at the vocabulary we learnt about on Friday.
You can find chapter two here.
Here is the pre-recorded lesson, where Miss Robson will help children read through the chapter and clarify what is happening.

Writing
Fronted adverbials are words or phrases placed at the beginning of a sentence which are used to describe the action that follows. Here are some examples:
Before sunrise, Zack ate his breakfast.
After the rain stopped, Sophie went outside to play.
Re-watch the video of Zahra here and look for the key moments when the action is happening. Write a fronted adverbial before the action. Can you write at least four of them?
Here are some examples to get you started:
- In the dry heat of the morning, a leaf fell from a gnarled tree.
- Carefully, Zahra poured water from her terracotta pot.
- Frantically, Zahra rushed to the village water pump.
- With great determination, she heaved on the rusted handle filling the pot with water.

Let’s crack that division!
Remember, if you need any help then just send a message to a member of the Year 4 team and we are more than happy to help!
Today’s learning video is the second one here.
And here is the follow-up task:
Is this statement true or false?

French
In French today we will start by recapping how to have a simple conversation, recapping fruit, and we will begin to learn how to say the days of the week in French.
To begin with, children should watch this video – they might even want to sing along!
