Mrs Warner & Mrs Jamison
Each individual in Year 4 brings sparkle and shine to our busy classroom. We aim to provide a creative curriculum which caters for all children whilst nurturing, inspiring and generating curiosity in our learners.
Autumn 1 (Rotten Romans)
In Autumn, we learn about the Romans and what impact they have had on our lives today. The children will consider and research the aspects of the Roman Empire, such as their life style and the army. We also look at the weapons they used at war and how they overcome their enemies. In art we make our own Roman shield and in DT our own mangonel.
Spring 1 (Out of Africa)
During this topic the children will describe and understand key aspects of physical geography, including climate zones. They will use atlases to locate Africa in relation to other countries around the world. Within Science, the children will be learning about the different states of matter including finding out about the water cycle.
Spring 2 and Summer 1 (Vicious Vikings)
We are excited to be learning all about the Vikings. The children will find out all about their army, how they travelled and where they settled. In DT, we will make our own Viking bread. In science, we will be learning all about how sound travels.
Summer 2 (South America)
In Summer 2 the children become geographers and look at how the physical and human features of Brazil and the UK differ. In DT the children will be thinking about Fairtrade means and designing their own chocolate bar wrapper.
